Investigators from the Yorktown Police Department were alerted on Aug. 20 from H&M that an employee had been making fraudulent return transactions and placing the money on gift cards without authorization.
Police said that the investigation determined that from Aug. 12 to Aug. 14, Yorktown resident David James, 26, completed a total of ten separate transactions, stealing a total of $1,019.80 from the store.
On Wednesday, Aug. 22, James surrendered himself into police custody at Yorktown Police Headquarters and was arrested. James has been charged with a felony count of grand larceny. He has since been released and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Sept. 25 to answer the charge.
